Dear Mr. Ali Reza Avaei

Re: Prisoner of Conscience, Majid Tavakkoli

I take the liberty to ask you to immediately and unconditionally release Mr. Majid Tavakkoli, who  is being held for the peaceful exercise of his civil rights, such as the right to freedom of expression and the right of association and assembly.

I also remind you of the UN Standard Minimum Rules for Treatment of Prisoners, which require the member states to ensure that prisoners are provided adequate space, bedding, ventilation, lighting, food and hygienic facilities.

Since the mentioned prisoner has serious health problems, I am emphatically asking you to provide him with access to adequate medical care, including assessment and treatment by an independent specialist outside of Evin prison.

Assuring you of my highest esteem,

Arsen Nazarian
